NEWCOMB — Community Bank, N.A., will be closing its Newcomb branch, located at 4995 State Route 28N, on July 19.
Customer accounts will automatically be transferred to the Long Lake branch, located at 1199 Main St.
Long Lake is about 16 miles away from Newcomb.
There will be no employee layoffs associated with the move because the Newcomb branch is open only two days a week now and has been serviced by Long Lake employees.
Following the transition, these employees will all work at the Long Lake branch five days a week.
“This move will allow us to utilize our area employees at one location,” Hal Wentworth, senior vice president for retail banking, said in a news release.
“While improving the efficiency of our branch network, the Newcomb customers will be served in Long Lake by the same employees who have handled their banking needs at our Newcomb branch.”
The bank noted that the Long Lake branch is open five days a week and has a 24-hour ATM and safety-deposit boxes, which are services not currently offered at the Newcomb location.
Long Lake and Newcomb employees will be happy to help customers set up direct deposit, night deposit, online banking, remote deposit capture or other services in order to ease the transition, the release said.
The Long Lake lobby hours are Monday to Thursday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Community Bank branch in North Creek has the same branch hours.
Community Bank is also closing the branch that it was operating at Price Chopper in Plattsburgh. It said employees who staffed that outlet will get hours at the other Plattsburgh locations.
